The Porter Cable Belt Sander comes in a variety of different designs and styles. Unlike the pedestal grinder, that has solid grinding wheels, the belt disc sander uses a flexible belt that includes with a grinding medium. Do not apply too much pressure on a moving sander belt. Only light pressure weight on your Porter Cable belt sander (disc) is enough for most jobs.

You should not work with unsecured stock unless it is heavy enough to stay in place. Clamp the stock into place or use a stop-block to avoid movement.

Be careful not to overreach; you should always keep proper footing and balance, and do not cover the air vents of the Porter Cable belt sander.
